Our Team

Our team consists of exceptionally qualified and seasoned Master Mariners and Marine Engineers, prepared to cater to our clients' unique requirements. We understand that numerous clients might not have a complete grasp of the intricate dredging plan. We are fully capable of providing assistance at every phase of the dredging process, from the initial planning stages all the way to the successful completion of the project.

With Capt. Philip Kadavil at the helm as Managing Director, the company has been delivering dredging and reclamation services to clients globally for more than thirty years. His vast experience in the industry not only enriches his understanding but also makes him an exceptional candidate for expert witness services and intricate project consultancy.

In addition, Mr. James Abraham , a Hydrographer and mariner, serves as a Director at the firm, leveraging his 30 years of experience in the marine industry. Our skilled engineering team is also available for major projects, prepared to provide expert witness or consultancy services as needed.

JP Maritime is equipped to collaborate with the owner's representative, offering our extensive dredging expertise. Regardless of the project's scale, the engineering division of JP Maritime can leverage over 30 years of experience while integrating seamlessly into the overall project team. Our objective is to foster a cooperative environment among all stakeholders, ensuring equal collaboration between the project owner and the contractor.

JP Maritime partners with NY Hydrographic Services Inc. to provide exceptional hydrographic surveying services tailored for marine projects, which include coastal areas, lakes, marinas, and rivers. The company owns and operates a custom-built hydrographic survey vessel that features advanced surveying technology. This vessel is equipped with a range of instruments, including multi-beam and single-beam echo sounders, RTK & DGPS, motion and attitude heading sensors, sound velocity profilers, and hydrographic workstations. Following the collection and processing of data, the resulting information can be used on its own or combined with topographic data to develop detailed 3-D models.

The services offered in hydrographic surveying includes:

  • Comprehensive coverage utilizing Multi Beam Mapping to capture the bottom profile and contours of the surveyed area.
  • Investigating underwater obstructions and conducting site assessments.
  • Performing bottom sampling and providing laboratory testing reports.
  • Calculating quantities accurately.

Pre-Dredging Exploration

A significant challenge faced by dredging projects nationwide is the insufficient data concerning the nature and volume of materials present. This information is essential for effective project planning and is a key factor in the successful execution of dredging operations. JP Maritime has collaborated with industry experts to deliver comprehensive pre-project geotechnical investigations and reports, aimed at reducing uncertainties in the planning and design phases of dredging initiatives. The investigative services typically include the following:

  • Collection of sediment for the purpose of studying and assessing the original conditions of the substrate.
  • Sampling and analysis of bottom materials.
  • Analysis of grain size distribution.
  • Testing of sediment settling conditions.
  • Examination of environmental constituents.

The initial step in designing any dredging project involves conducting a hydrographic survey along with a thorough analysis of the bottom sediments. These essential components will provide the necessary data to develop an effective dredging plan.
